A lot happens between “We’re booked!” and the moment your senior steps in front of the camera. 📸

1. We Start With a Conversation 💬

Before we plan a single photograph, we want to know your senior.

What do they love? ❤️ What are they involved in? What kind of clothes do they actually wear? What makes them feel like themselves? Are there things they absolutely don’t want to do?

This is where we start figuring out what makes their session different from everyone else's.

Because your senior isn't a template.

Their portraits shouldn't be either. ✨

2. We Plan the Session 📝📍

Once we know more about your senior, we start putting the pieces together.

Location. 📍 Outfits. 👗 Activities. 🎨 Props. Lighting. 💡 The overall look and feel of the session.

Maybe they want something dramatic and editorial.

Maybe they're an athlete. 🏆

Maybe they're an artist, musician, gamer, dancer, theater kid, animal lover, or someone who just wants something completely different from the typical senior pictures.

We don't just show up and hope something comes together.

We plan for it.

3. Then There’s the Wardrobe 👗✨

And this is where things can get really fun.

Our Storybook Closet gives seniors access to dresses and pieces they probably wouldn't find at the mall—or already have hanging in their closet. ✨

Some are dramatic. Some are whimsical. Some are completely over-the-top. 💫

And sometimes the perfect outfit becomes the starting point for an entire concept.

The goal isn't to make your senior wear something they don't feel comfortable in.

It's to give them options they may never have considered. 💭

4. Hair & Makeup Are Part of the Experience 💄

Professional hair and makeup aren't just about “looking pretty.”

They're another part of creating the finished portrait. 📸

Our hair and makeup artist works with your senior to create a look that fits the session while still looking like them.

And yes, we know there's a difference between feeling polished and feeling like you're wearing someone else's face. 😉

5. We Keep Planning 🔍

Even after the big decisions are made, we're thinking about the details.

What time should we shoot? ⏰

Where will the light be? ☀️

What order should we photograph the outfits? 👗

Which location works best for which look? 📍

What needs to be packed? 🎒

What should we bring with us?

Those details may not be obvious when you're looking at the final photograph.

But they're part of what makes the final photograph work. ✨

6. Picture Day Finally Arrives! 🎉📸

And this is the part where your senior gets to have fun.

They don't need to know how to pose.

They don't need to practice facial expressions.

They don't need to worry about what to do with their hands. 🙌

That's our job.

We guide them through posing, movement, expressions, locations and lighting so they aren't standing there wondering, “What am I supposed to do?” 😬

Instead, they get to experience the session. ❤️

7. And We're Still Not Finished 🖥️✨

The camera stopping isn't the end of the process.

After the session comes the careful selection, editing and retouching that turns the photographs into finished portraits. 📸

We're looking at things you might never notice while scrolling through a gallery—stray hairs, distracting details, clothing issues, backgrounds, lighting and all the little things that can pull attention away from your senior.

Because getting the photograph is only part of creating the portrait.

You aren't simply booking someone to take pictures for an hour.
