Some senior sessions are planned around a location.

Others are planned around an idea.

This one started with a boho-inspired vision, and we knew we wanted to create something completely different from the typical senior portraits you see everywhere.

For Riley, Camryn, and Olivia, we brought together soft lace, flowers, an old horse trailer, a vintage purple Victorian couch, and a field full of wildflowers to create a session that felt a little vintage, a little whimsical, and completely their own. 🌿💜

The Old Horse Trailer 🌸

One of the first pieces of the concept was an old horse trailer transformed with soft lace and flowers to create a backdrop that felt romantic and vintage without being overly traditional.

The details mattered. The lace softened the weathered trailer. The flowers added texture and color. And suddenly, something that started as an old horse trailer became an entirely different portrait setting.

Then Came the Purple Victorian Couch 💜

There is something about putting an unexpected piece of furniture outdoors that immediately changes the feel of a portrait.

Instead of simply photographing someone standing in a field in a white dress (like everyone else), the couch gave us another way to pose, another shape to work with, and another layer to the overall concept.

And that purple? Against the greens and wildflowers, it was perfect.

Wildflowers at Sunset 🌅

As the evening went on, we moved into the field of wildflowers and waited for the light to change.

Sunset gave us a completely different look from the earlier setups. The soft light, flowers, and vintage couch created portraits that felt almost like stills from a movie.

But the goal wasn't to make every image look the same. We wanted variety.

Different poses. Different expressions. Different compositions. Different pieces of the set.

That's what makes a custom senior session so much more than changing outfits and standing in a few different spots.

Three Seniors. One Concept. Lots of Possibilities. ✨

Riley, Camryn, and Olivia each brought their own personalities to the session, which meant the same setup could look completely different depending on who was in front of the camera.

That's something I love about working with seniors.

A concept gives us somewhere to start, but the person is what makes the portraits work.

The styling, posing, lighting, location, and details all come together around them.

And that's why I don't believe senior portraits should feel like an assembly line.

You shouldn't have to show up, stand in the same five locations, do the same poses, and go home.

Your senior session can be planned around what you like, what makes you feel comfortable, and what you want your portraits to look like.

Sometimes that means an old horse trailer covered in lace and flowers.

Sometimes it means a purple Victorian couch in a field.

And sometimes it's an idea we haven't created yet.

That's the fun of a custom senior portrait experience. 💜

Riley, Camryn, and Olivia's boho session was full of beautiful details, unexpected props, and plenty of personality — and I think the finished portraits will show exactly why we love creating sessions that are anything but basic.
