Tornados, Chickens & Beach Sunset Portraits (like no other)

Madeline's senior session was an eventful one. She wanted to be photographed at sunset at their campground, which has a great view of the sunset, if you can catch it on a clear day. We decided to photograph her at the studio for the first look and then her grandfather's farm, for the second look.

Everything was going great until a huge storm decided to chase us inside. You'll see the part in the video where it's complete chaos, because we were running for shelter! Winds were crazy and the electricity went out...we thought there is no way we are going to catch the sunset. By looking at the radar, I figured we would have to chase the storm to get there in time for the sunset (if it was visible at all). We figured it was actually going in the direction of where we were heading to do her sunset images.

As soon as the worst part of the storm blew through, we took off. We saw trees down and trampolines flipped over in the street. It was crazy! Literally, we chased the storm to the sunset and had about 10 minutes to shoot before the sun went down. One of the most memorable sessions, ever.

It makes me recall one of my favorite quotes by Ansel Adams, "Sometimes I do get to places just when God's ready to have somebody click the shutter."

Special thanks to North Landing Beach Campground and Madeline's Mom and sister Kate, for throwing dresses and having faith and Laura Duncan for being a great assistant. What a magical day.
