When Addelynn first came to Storybook Studios, she was quiet—painfully so. Her eyes were full of emotion, but her words were few. Like so many girls her age, she had started picking herself apart—focusing on the things she didn’t like about how she looked instead of seeing the beautiful light she carried within her. 💔
Her mom saw it happening and knew something had to change.
She told us, “I just wanted her to step out of her comfort zone and feel proud of who she is. Not just in front of the camera, but around other people too.”
In the beginning, Addelynn barely spoke to me during our sessions. She stayed close to her mom, hesitant to make eye contact, worried she wouldn’t “look right” in the photos. But we took it slow. We laughed. We played with light and angles. We showed her the back of the camera. And moment by moment, Addelynn started to let herself be seen.
✨ Something began to shift.
At her last session, she walked in standing a little taller. She smiled more easily. She started chatting with other girls. She even gave me ideas for a few of her poses—and nailed every single one.
And the best part?
📣 What Addelynn’s mom had to say:
“I’ve seen Addie grow more confident in herself. Seeing her excited about photos of herself and knowing how much she loves them brings me joy. The youth pastor at her church stopped me last week and said, ‘Addie has changed—she’s out there starting conversations, not just sitting in a corner waiting for people to talk to her.’ That meant everything to me.”
This is what it’s all about.
It’s not just about beautiful photos (though we love those too). It’s about creating a space where girls like Addelynn can see themselves differently—and begin to show up in the world as the strong, radiant people they truly are.
So often, these teens need to know
