Speed Skating in Outer Space! Makayna's Stellar Senior Portraits

It was such a pleasure to work with Makayna to create these stellar photos! Traveling to such cool places never gets old and getting to take photos in a roller rink was definitely something I hadn't been expecting to do, but we loved every minute of it!

When I met with Makayna and her mom about senior portraits, I was so excited because she's a competitive speed skater! So, naturally I thought of putting her in a big flowy dress with her speed skates on! Wouldn't you? I knew it would be a challenge to photograph her in that super-dark skate rink and have enough light to stop motion with my camera. I brought two strobe lights but when I was setting up, one of them stopped working! :/ So, I pulled it off with just one Profoto strobe. It was so fun to watch her go around the rink. My favorite part of the video is her sliding on the floor! "Coming in hot!"

Makayna is a stunning girl...and her personality is stunning, too!
