Photography 101 Workshop 

Storybook Studios introduces a photography class that will teach the basic skills you need to take better pictures. The Workshop is a 3-4 hour in-person photography class for anyone who wants to take better photos of their children and family.  We will go over the basic photography fundamentals, hands-on practice with a child model and question and answers time. This will be a very relaxed environment...feel free to ask any question! You will learn:

  • Get out of automatic mode! DSLR camera features
  • Learn the fundamentals of light, shadow, exposure, composition and focus techniques
  • Basic portrait natural lighting techniques
  • How to get the "dreamy look" (out of focus in the background)
  • Techniques for photographing children (child model will be provided)

Class will be taught by Casey Scalf, owner/photographer of Storybook Studios, 1320 Kempsville Road in Chesapeake, 23320. You must have a digital camera that allows you to manually change your settings such as aperture and your shutter speed. *This class is not for professionals or anyone looking to start a photography business.*

Total cost is $125 per person and is due, in full, as a non-refundable deposit to secure your seat in the class. SEATS ARE LIMITED.

Photoshop 101 Workshop

A one night Photoshop class to teach the very basics of Photoshop. Take your photos to a new level using Photoshop and all the tools it has to offer. You'll be amazed at how simple adjustments can take your images from mediocre to amazing! You will be up and running with an efficient workflow by the end of the workshop . 

The cost is $75. Fees are due, in full, as a non-refundable deposit to secure a seat in the class. Only 6 seats available. This class is specific to the full version of Photoshop and is limited to 6 attendees.  It's one of the two "starter" Workshops - Think of it as a "roadmap" to working in Photoshop  - If you are brand-new to Photoshop, this is the class for you!

Subjects covered: Photoshop concepts, controls and conventions; Proper Workflow; Setting up your Preferences; Setting up and working with your Workspace; Opening and Saving images; Resizing images; Cropping and dramatic effects. You will be able to open your photo, identify color casts, fix white balance, adjust exposure & skintones and so much more! This is a great visual and personal way for me to show you how to effectively "navigate" through Photoshop. Questions encouraged!

Light refreshments provided! If you have a laptop with Photoshop, please bring it so you can follow along.
